Department of Physics was established in the year 1963. Department has very good infrastructure, well equipped spacious laboratories, good computational and research facilities. The department teaches Engineering Physics for all the Engineering branches. The department offers a global elective for seventh semester students of all branches. The department is known for good academic and general discipline.
Presently the department has ten teaching faculty and four technical staff. All the faculty are actively involved in interdisciplinary research activities. The thrust areas of research involves Thin films, Nanomaterials, Conducting Polymers, Polymer composites, Condensed Matter Physics, Radiation Physics, Crystallography, Bio Physics and Education Physics Research. The department has an established research Center under Visveswaraya Technological University with ten Research guides and four research scholars are currently pursuing their doctoral studies.
